Table Game Manners
There are millions of poker and blackjack players across the world today, but not all of them know how to act while playing table games. There are certain manners players should employ when playing table games no matter what the situation is or how badly they are losing. There are three ways a player can enter a game. The first way is if they sit down at the table prior to the game beginning. The second way is they interrupt the game and sit down because they innocently stumbled upon the game. The third way is they have been standing around counting the cards and decide to enter the game. If the latter of the two happen to you make sure that you ask the players if you can join the game.
Another major manner to obey is the position of the players and where to sit once joining the game. Two important key terms to know and understand is the first baseman and the third baseman. Stay with me here because we are still talking about blackjack and not baseball. The first baseman is the player sitting at the table who receives his cards first. The third baseman is the player sitting at the table who receives his cards from the dealer after everyone else. The third baseman is the player seated farthest to the left if standing behind the table.
The next manner you need to know about is how to bet during the game. If you have chips of various denominations then make sure that the most expensive chips are at the bottom. This prevents players from sneaking in a chip of a higher value if a favorable outcome becomes known. Once you place the bet you should remove your hands so the chips are visible to the dealer and the other players. If you are getting ready to ‘color up’ make sure that you wait for a break in the action.
The next manner you need to know is how to tip the dealer. If you are losing a lot of games then the dealer will not expect you to tip a lot, so do not worry about this. Every couple hours of play place an additional bet on the table on the behalf of the dealer, he or she will greatly appreciate this move. Making a decision as to how much to tip the dealer depends on how friendly and proficient the dealer is and how much money you have in your bankroll.
