There are various circuit events held throughout the year, each year, at various Caesar’s locations across the country and the world. These World Series of Poker circuit events award cash prizes to the top finishers in each event and the first place finisher gets to go home with 10s of thousands of dollars as well as the coveted gold ring. One of the biggest tournaments to ever take place at a Caesar’s World Series of Poker circuit event was won with a pair of eights by Paul Vogel from Merrick, New York. The total prize pool for this circuit event totaled $190,120, but Vogel was able to take home just around $61,599.

It took nearly 100 hands of heads-up action, which is when there are only two players involved and they are facing each other, for Vogel to finally win the circuit event. He beat second place finisher Keith Crowder of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The second place finisher did not go home empty handed as Crowder walked away with $32,320 in prize money. When the finalists remaining sat down at the final table Vogel entered play as the chip leader. Vogel typically plays all of his poker games on the Internet but has competed twice in the World Series of Poker Main Event.

ESPN, the leading sports broadcaster in the United States, is widely considered the unofficial home of poker by many poker stars and fans alike. Why? ESPN has aired more poker tournaments than other networks, including the airing of the World Series of Poker, the premier tournament for poker players across the globe. ESPN plans to take on even more poker programming in the future. The network announced that it has acquired the rights to 16 original episodes of an inaugural PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour. The episodes will air on ESPN 2, the second channel in the network. This tournament is the first major tournament to be created for poker players, by poker players, in North America. The tourney began back in January of 2010 with the PokerStars.net Caribbean Adventure, which took place in the Bahamas.
